CAPE TOWN - The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) says its probe into allegations of bullying at Forest Heights High School has found no evidence of bullying.

The department instituted an investigation after allegations of bullying were reported on Monday.

A mother of one of the pupils told Eyewitness News that her child had been a victim of both physical and verbal abuse from other pupils at the school since the beginning of the school year.

She blamed the school management of sweeping the alleged bullying of her daughter under the rug.

However, the provincial education department said it appears that the conflict between the two pupils was influenced by a personal matter.

The department told Eyewitness News that some of its district officials met with both pupils and their parents’ and the matter had been resolved.

It said the incident was not in connection with an incident reported earlier in 2024, which was also resolved.

The department added that the pupil was receiving support and back at school writing her term exams.
