JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa has vowed to ensure the ease of doing business in the country in a bid to woo Chinese investors.

Ramaphosa reaffirmed plans to address investor concerns during his state visit in Beijing on Wednesday.

Since South Africa’s investment drive in 2018, Chinese companies have made investment pledges to the value of over R18 billion in the manufacturing, resources, finance and agro-processing sectors.

But he said that an intensified investment drive required an ambitious move to modernise the country's infrastructure through the expansion of ports, rail and road networks.

"South Africa, in many ways, becomes more attractive, more attractive in the sense that the reforms that we have embarked upon are going to speed up, they’re going to be much deeper and meaningful and create a much clearer conducive climate for businesses to invest."
