CAPE TOWN - A wildfire in the Garden Route has not yet been completely contained.
Crews working overnight successfully managed to secure all accessible areas in the south, southeast, and southwest, which could have posed a threat to infrastructure.
The blaze broke out high up in the mountains, north of the Bergplaas farm, on Sunday evening.
The Garden Route District Municipality's Herman Pieters said efforts to prevent accessible fire lines higher up in the mountain from rapidly spreading did not have the desired impact.
"The wildfire at Bergbplaas is not 100% contained... Active firelines remain in the north west and the north east."
