Controversial Mthatha West Chief Sakhumzi Dalinzolo Mareke shot and killed

JOHANNESBURG - Controversial Mthatha West chief in the Eastern Cape, Sakhumzi Dalinzolo Mareke, has been shot and killed.

Mareke was recently accused of being the mastermind behind the rampant extortion of schools in the area by Abathembu King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo.

The king made the remarks at a meeting that was held to discuss alleged demands for so-called "protection fees" from schools around Mthatha.

In response, Mareke rubbished the allegations, adding that the community was unaware of any cases.
