'We were supposed to live here for six months' - Usindiso Building fire victim

The 31st of August 2024 marked one year since the Usindiso Building fire disaster. The blaze, which erupted in the five-storey hijacked building in Johannesburg's inner city, displaced hundreds of people, and claimed 77 lives. Most survivors are still trying to piece their lives together, grappling with trauma and deep emotional wounds that remain unhealed.
