CAPE TOWN - Social media users are being urged not to share images of the Vanrhyns Pass bus crash.

The bus veered off the pass on Monday, with 42 passengers on board believed to be seasonal farm workers from several Northern Cape towns.

Ten people were killed and 29 were injured.

The Rural and Farmworkers Development Organisation's Billy Claasen said it's understood the workers were en route to farms in Ceres.

"I want to plead with the community outside and people on Facebook and social media, to refrain from putting pictures and videos on social media. These people's families have not been informed about their death. There are loved ones sitting in the Northern Cape. Please let's respect them."
