Consumers who are First National Bank clients have the chance to buy bread four times a month at just 99c a loaf.
FNB's announced the rollout of the initiative in partnership with Pick n Pay, after putting an initial partnership with Shoprite Checkers on hold.
FNB Easy PAYU and Easy Bundle customers qualify to buy their weekly white or brown eBucks-subsidised loaf through a voucher system.
It's a very simple initiative anchored in FNB's principles of financial inclusion, says the head of eBucks Rewards, Zamabomvu Ngubane.
"Our customers are just required to swipe at any of the Pick n Pay stores, and then a voucher will be sent to them for their next bread purchase. We basically want to educate our customer base around swiping and driving our financial inclusion."
"We look at how customers behave for them to be able to unlock a credit profile and all those elements. On our side there's no complexity; we're trying to break barriers and provide access to groceries and basic food needs for our customer base."

Ngubane says the delay was simply a result of enhancing the bread deal to make sure they give more value to customers.
"Obviously we've gone with Pick n Pay, but our customers still have access to the ordinary rewards that we currently run with the Shoprite Checkers group, so this initiative is just an expansion of what we already have."
