Two weeks ago, a DA and GOOD Party coalition saw its leaders appointed to the top positions of mayor and speaker of the municipality, respectively.
However, the GOOD Party, FF Plus, and the Patriotic Alliance (PA) voted with the ANC to oust the mayor.
DA provincial leader Tertuis Simmers described the FF Plus's support for the motion as a contradiction of an agreement reached between the national leaders of both parties in August.
"I also call on the GOOD Party to act with determination against Cllr Michels for violating due process in bringing the motion to the council behind the backs of the DA and other coalition partners. This was a serious violation of due process, and we will do what is necessary to make the municipality abide by the proper rules of order."
