DURBAN - The KwaZulu-Natal Transport Department is yet to determine the cause of several accidents in the province over the weekend, where 27 people were killed.
In one of the accidents, six people died and were burnt beyond recognition after the minibus taxi they were travelling in overturned.
KZN Transport MEC Siboniso Duma briefed the media in Durban on Monday and said investigations are underway to determine what caused the tragedies.

"They are preliminary, we don’t want at this point and time to declared because there is a proper engineering process, the issue of measurements and tests must be run through," Duma said.
Duma said the department does not want to speculate at this stage.
"It will be unfair that we issue a premature decision only to find out that it is not," he said.
