Joburg EMS urges parents to keep close eye on children after Soweto teen's drowning
The warning comes after the body of a 13-year-old boy who drowned after falling into a dam in Soweto was recovered.

JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg Emergency Services (EMS) is urging parents to keep a close eye on where children play as the spring season kicks in.
Officials said children should not be allowed to play around abandoned buildings or swim in dams, lakes and pools unsupervised.
The warning comes after the body of a 13-year-old boy, who drowned after falling into a dam in Soweto, was recovered.

The teen went missing while playing with friends on Saturday afternoon.
Joburg EMS spokesperson Xolile Khumalo said he accidentally slipped into the dam.
"The EMS search and rescue team responded to a drowning incident that took place at Power Park, Orlando. The incident was reported to SAPS [South African Police Service] at 16:30 on Saturday. The 13-year-old accidentally slipped into the dam while playing with his friends."
