At least 21 lives lost over the weekend in deadly KZN crashes
Transport MEC Siboniso Duma said the department would assist the affected families with burial arrangements.

DURBAN – At least 21 people have been killed in road crashes in KwaZulu-Natal this past weekend alone.
Among these tragedies was an accident that claimed the lives of six supporters of the Umkhonto weSizwe Party.
The victims were traveling to an event at the Nkandla home of party leader Jacob Zuma on Saturday.

In another incident, 11 people died when two vehicles crashed on the R622 Mooi Plaza in the KZN Midlands.
The provincial transport department conveyed its sympathy and plans to visit the victims’ families on Monday. Officials vowed to assist the families with burial arrangements.
“It has been a terrible accident weekend in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, where we lost almost 21 lives in the province,” said Transport MEC Siboniso Duma.
Duma urged motorists to exercise caution on the roads, emphasising that deadly vehicle crashes negatively impacted the province’s economy.
“This affects the economy and the outlook of tourism in the province of KwaZulu-Natal.”
