Simmers visited the town on Thursday.
"We have been in discussions with the MM and the mayor since last week because we do own land above the flood plain levels in Riverlands. Seeing that the national Department of Public Works also has land above the flood plain level, we will be engaging their DDG in terms of acquiring that portion of land."
Department of Water and Sanitation Minister Pemmy Majodina said the Department of Human Settlements had also offered to help.
"When I was here on the 11th, there was a team sent by the minister of Human Settlements and we said the municipality must also assist to make assessments so that when that is done, they must be able to say which departments must come to work in Riverlands."
