Farm owner, 2 employees linked to murder of 2 women found in pigsty to apply for bail

JOHANNESBURG - The owner of a farm and his employees arrested in connection with the discovery of the bodies of two women in a pigsty will apply for bail on Friday.
Maria Makgato and Kudzai Ndlovu's decomposed remains were found on the farm in Sebayeng, outside Mankweng, last week after they had been reported missing.
The farm owner, Zachariah Olivier, his assistant, Adriaan De Wet, and another employee, William Musoro, have been charged with the murders.
The accused have been charged with the murders of Makgato and Ndlovu, as well as the attempted murder of Ndlovu’s husband.
They are also charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, and defeating the ends of justice. In Musoro’s case, there is an additional charge of contravening the Immigration Act.
They made their first appearance in the Mankweng Magistrates Court last week on Friday, when the matter was postponed to 30 August for a formal bail application.
The case has sent shockwaves through the country, with Minister of Police Senzo Mchunu among those condemning the events at its heart as “horrific”.
His spokesperson, Kamogelo Mogotsi, said: "The minister finds the actions of the individuals responsible for this brutal act utterly reprehensible, showing a complete disregard for human life."
The minister has, however, said that the arrest of the suspects before court "is a step towards justice for the victims and their families".
