The City of Cape Town has recently become aware of a fake notice about EPWP job interviews in Khayelitsha circulating on WhatsApp.

This is not endorsed by the City.

EPWP jobseekers can verify job opportunities in the following ways:

  • Contact the EPWP HelpDesk on 021 400 9406 or email epwp.help@capetown.gov.za. (07:30 until 15:30).
  • Contact your local subcouncil.

All general City job applications are listed on the City’s website.

"The City appeals to jobseekers to please be extra vigilant as fake notices related to EPWP job opportunities are circulated from time to time. We encourage the public to please verify information in notices with the City before responding to them or making the effort to travel to a venue only to find no one is aware of the event. It is also very important to note that the City would never ask community members to pay for job opportunities, or to pay to apply for a job."
- Alderman Grant Twigg, Mayoral Committee Member - Urban Waste Management

Report any suspicious adverts to the City's Fraud Hotline on 0800 323 130.

How to register for EPWP job opportunities
If you would like to be considered for EPWP work opportunities, the only way to do this is to register on the Jobseekers’ Database at your local sub-council office.

Please bring a copy of your CV, your ID or a valid South African work permit. EPWP beneficiaries are randomly selected from this database.

For more information, contact the EPWP HelpDesk as mentioned above.
