JOHANNESBURG -The lawyer for one of the accused in the Senzo Meyiwa trial has alleged that Longwe Twala was also shot during the incident that claimed the footballer’s life.
One of the defence lawyers, advocate Thulani Mngomezulu, resumed his cross-examination of ballistics expert Chris Mangena on Wednesday.
While it has been claimed by several eyewitnesses that three shots were fired on the day Meyiwa was killed, Mangena insists he could find evidence of only two shots in the house.

Mngomezulu has centered his cross-examination around the theory that there were no intruders who murdered the soccer star - and it was in Twala who shot Meyiwa during a scuffle.
According to Mngomezulu, the third bullet entered Twala’s foot during the struggle.
"Longwe, after that incident that wound became septic. He went to a doctor, the late Doctor Mbatsane who referred Longwe Twala to Dr Modise [at the] Rand Hospital," he told the Pretoria High Court.
Meyiwa was shot in October 2014 at the home of his girlfriend Kelly Khumalo, whom the State believes was the mastermind.
