DCS probing security protocols after inmate escapes from KZN prison

JOHANNESBURG - The Correctional Services Department said it was investigating whether there were lapses in security protocols when an inmate escaped.
Dumisani Mthethwa escaped from the Waterval Correctional Centre in KwaZulu-Natal on Monday.
He was serving a 15-year sentence for robbery with aggravating circumstances at the time of his escape.
He was part of a group assigned to work in the facility's garden.
Department spokesperson, Singabakho Nxumalo: "Members of the public are urged not to approach Mthethwa if seen but to report any sightings or relevant information to the nearest correctional centre or a police station."
