CAPE TOWN - Two suspects are expected to appear in the Strand Magistrates Court on Monday on charges of dealing in drugs.
This comes after the pair aged between 21 and 38-year-old were arrested in Strand, Cape Town on Friday, with a consignment of mandrax to the value of over R4 million.
The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigations said its narcotics bureau unit received an anonymous tip-off from members of the public.
Hawks spokesperson, Zinzi Hani, said that officers discovered 71,000 tablets of mandrax and cocaine, along with an undisclosed amount of cash.
"The team acted on information received about a vehicle allegedly transporting drugs en route to Cape Town from Gauteng, which was spotted on the N2 and stopped."
