Former President Jacob Zuma said he was always been fond of Shivambu's capabilities as a politician, insisting he saw his potential during his days in the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL).

He said that Shivambu's calculating and strategic approach to decision-making were among the reasons he believes he'll be an asset to the MK Party.

"He is a real politician. There is politics which I define as scientific politics - he takes decision at the right time, for good reasons."

With Shivambu being the MK Party's national organiser, he has been entrusted to polish its policy position and grow its footprint in communities.

Zuma said that Shivambu's ideological beliefs were clear, suggesting he'd found a home in the MK Party.
