JOHANNESBURG - The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Tshwane says it's awaiting an instruction from its national leadership on whether to support the African National Congress (ANC)'s bid to reclaim the city’s mayoral chain.
The ANC in Gauteng has recently won back governing power in Joburg and Ekurhuleni, with the capital city earmarked as its next target.
The metro is under the custodianship of the Democratic Alliance (DA), through a coalition involving ActionSA, Freedom Front Plus, the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) and the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP).
ActionSA confirmed to Eyewitness News earlier this week that it's in talks with the ANC and hopes to join hands and remove the DA from Tshwane’s mayoral office.

It has also emerged that the DA has approached the ANC, asking for assistance to keep control over the municipality.
But the EFF has yet to decide whether it will back the ANC's attempt to take control of the City of Tshwane.
The party said it would only disclose its position once it receives guidance from its higher structures.
In Joburg and Ekurhuleni, the EFF is in government with the ANC, despite their turbulent relationship in both metros.
