JOHANNESBURG - Police have launched a manhunt for suspects involved in a taxi-related shooting incident in Midrand on Tuesday.
This came after suspects driving in a bakkie opened fire on two vehicles driven by taxi owners in the area.
It's understood the taxi owners, who were being escorted by their security teams, were attacked while driving from a meeting.
A shootout then ensued between the suspects and the security officers.
One suspect has been arrested following the incident. However, police said two others fled the scene.
"Two of the taxi owners and two bystanders were hit by the bullets during the shootout and sustained injuries," said police spokesperson, Mavela Masondo.
"They were all taken to the nearest medical care centre for medical treatment. Police have opened a case of attempted murder and are on the lookout for the suspects who are still at large."
