JOHANNESBURG - Graft-accused former minister of sports, Zizi Kodwa, returns to the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Palm Ridge on Wednesday.
Kodwa is accused, alongside former Enterprise Outsourcing Holdings (EOH) boss Jehan Mackay, of corruption amounting to some R1.7 million.
He allegedly took kickbacks from Mackay in exchange for swinging government contracts his way between 2015 and 2016.
The pair were arrested in June and made their last appearance in court in July.
On the last occasion the case was in court, Kodwa’s legal team made a request for further particulars.
The matter was subsequently postponed to Wednesday for a pre-trial conference and for the State to consider the request.
It’s expected to be a short appearance and that the matter will ultimately be postponed again.
In the meantime, Kodwa and Mackay - who are both out on bail of R30,000 each - have previously said they intend to plead not guilty.
Kodwa, however, resigned from his positions both as a minister and an African National Congress (ANC) member of Parliament (MP) against the backdrop of the charges against him.
