JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero said that the city needed partnerships with provincial and national government as well the private sector in order to cater basic services to the city's rapidly growing population.
Morero’s predecessor, Kabelo Gwamanda, stepped down from the mayoral post following calls for his resignation due to the deteriorating state of the metro.
Prior to his exit from the city's top office, Gwamanda denied failing to stabilise service delivery during his 15 months in office and attributed the city's challenges, in part, to former mayor, Herman Mashaba.
However, speaking on 702 on Tuesday morning, Morero said they were trying their level best to improve the quality of the basic services they should be supplying.
"We must also accept that the city is faced with uncontrollable growth which is affecting its ability to be able to provide services and we need partnerships with province, national government and the private sector to also intervene to help us navigate some of the challenges."
