JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) in Gauteng has emphasised the need to renew and rebuild its structures following a dismal performance at the May elections.
The party went from 50% in 2019, to a sub-par 34% in the 2024 national and provincial polls.
Its Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) adopted a resolution at its Lekgotla over the weekend to rebuild to recover from its electoral decline.
Speaking during a media a media briefing in Johannesburg on Monday ANC Provincial Secretary TK Nciza says the organisation is in the process of recovering lost ground.
"The PEC has resolved to prioritise the rebuilding of the organisation with specific focus on the basic unit of our branches. The organisation will implement various mechanisms to facilitate community recruitment, including impactful drives and recruitment campaigns."
