Time for political instability in Joburg has ended, assures new Mayor Morero

JOHANNESBURG - Newly elected Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero has assured residents that the time for political instability in the municipality has ended.
Morero ascended to the city’s highest office on Friday, succeeding Kabelo Gwamanda, who resigned earlier in the week.

With Morero being the ninth mayor of Joburg since 2016, he said the focus is now to ensure his administration lasts until the 2026 local government elections.
“Our leadership chain since 2016 has been very disruptive, and we can't continue on this disruptive path. Cities are meant to be developmental, resilient, and sustainable because they shape the form of societies.”
