Police arrest boy, 17, in connection with high school pupil Deveney Nel's murder

CAPE TOWN - The Western Cape Community Safety and Police Oversight Department is appealing to residents of Caledon to allow the law to take its course.
This follows the arrest of a 17-year-old suspect in connection with the murder of Overberg High School pupil Deveney Nel.

The 16-year-old girl was reported missing by her mother on 7 August after she failed to return home from school.
Nel's body was found dumped behind the locked doors of her school's storeroom. She sustained several stab wounds.
"I welcome the arrest. Our confidence in the SAPS [South African Police Service] investigation under the personal command of Brigadier Leon Hanana has been confirmed," said department spokesperson Anroux Marais.
"We request the community to allow the court case to take its course so that justice can be done."
