WC police arrest 2 men in Overberg for possession of dagga worth about R66k

CAPE TOWN - Two foreign nationals are behind bars after being caught with a boot full of marijuana, following a high-speed chase in the Overberg.
SAPS spokesperson Joseph Swartbooi said the suspects sped through a police barricade on the R316, prompting officers to give chase.
"Police operational deployments in the Overberg yielded positive results when an integrated operation led by Napier SAPS resulted in the arrest of two suspects found in possession of dagga with an estimated street value of R66,000."
Swartbooi said police were stopping and searching vehicles when the incident occurred.
"On Wednesday, 14 August 2024, the members were busy with crime combatting operations on the R316 when a red Toyota Yaris approached the barricade. The driver of the motor vehicle failed to stop and sped through the roadblock at high speed. The police members gave chase and forced the driver of the motor vehicle to stop. They searched the occupants and the vehicle upon which they discovered 44 bags filled with dagga."
The suspects will appear in the Bredasdorp Magistrates Court on charges of dealing in marijuana.
