JOHANNESBURG - Police are investigating the death of a four-month-old at a daycare centre in Boksburg.
It’s understood that on Wednesday, the mother received a call shortly after dropping the child off that he was not breathing.
The family said that the police were waiting for postmortem results to determine the cause of death.
"Guys, please help us. We want answers, we want justice for my sister's son. His name is Mbuso... justice for Mbuso, please guys."
That’s the distress of Baby Mbuso’s aunt, who could not hold back her tears while speaking to EWN about the ordeal.
The baby’s family is desperately seeking justice for his passing while under the watch of caretakers at the Happy Owl Day Care Centre in Boksburg.
According to the family, Baby Mbuso’s mother was called to the institution by caretakers, who said they noticed the child was not breathing when it was time for a nappy change.
Taking to social media, the baby’s aunt said she was not convinced the daycare centre had been forthcoming on the details of the tragedy.
"When we look at the footage, this incident... because we could see when they started panicking and trying to revive the baby, it happened at half past 2, yet they only called at half past three. What were they doing in that hour?"
The African National Congress Youth League has urged parents whose children attend the daycare centre to immediately remove them from the facility until investigations were concluded.
