JOHANNESBURG - Transport Minister Barbara Creecy has urged the Passenger Rail Agency’s (PRASA) leadership to focus on ensuring the passenger rail system is restored to full capacity.
This follows a decision by the agency’s board to end the contract with its former group executive Zolani Matthews.
This is the second time Matthews has been axed.
Matthews’ contract was terminated immediately in December 2021 after an investigation found he deliberately failed to disclose he holds a British citizenship.
He challenged his dismissal and was then reinstated but attempts to reach an amicable agreement failed.
Creecy said that the entity’s board decision provides certainty about the leadership at management level.
