Police investigate shooting at Willow Crescent Secondary School in Eldorado Park

JOHANNESBURG - Police are investigating a shooting incident at the Willow Crescent Secondary School in Eldorado Park which left two learners injured.

It's understood two armed individuals entered the schoolyard earlier on Wednesday, and fired shots.

One of the learners was stabbed during the incident.

The incident has again raised community concern over the high levels of gun violence in the township.

Community leader and ActionSA parliamentarian Dereleen James says more intervention is needed from all spheres of government.

"Despite heavy police visibility, you see the cops driving up and down but still the shooting continues. It's so sad that it is now happening at a school. It's not the first time we have reported it. It's not the first time we have asked for additional resources, every second child has a gun in Eldorado Park."
