Friends of Table Mountain calls for comprehensive needs analysis on SANParks resources for TMNP

CAPE TOWN - Friends of Table Mountain is calling for a comprehensive needs analysis on SANParks resources for Table Mountain National Park (TMNP).
This follows a move by SANParks to recruit more than 20 extra rangers for deployment on the mountain to curb crime.
The recruitment drive comes after a spike in robberies on the mountain range during summer.
Friends of Table Mountain chairperson, Andy Davies, said that more needed to be done.
"We would like to see a comprehensive needs analysis being done for SANParks resources in TMNP and then those resource requirements being met by actual skilled, motivated and visible rangers."
Table Mountain National Park manager, Megan Taplin, said SANParks would appoint additional support staff to assist the rangers.
"We are also appointing support staff so that our rangers can focus on the core duties of conservation and law enforcement as well as visitors safety."
