DURBAN - Kwazulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli will deliver the Budget Vote for his office and the Department of Community Safety and Liason.

Ntuli was elected Premier by an Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), Democratic Alliance (DA), African National Congress (ANC) and National Freedom Party (NFP) coalition in June following the general polls in May.

The Premier's budget includes a portion that will be allocated for the AmaZulu King's office for the next financial year.

Meanwhile, the Community Safety Department's allocation is set to focus on fighting the high crime rate in the province.

Ntuli is expected to explain to the House how he plans to spend almost R800 million.

In his State of the Province Address last month, Ntuli promised that he would create jobs and boost the rural economy.

At the same time, having moved the Department of Community Safety and Liason under his management, Ntuli is expected to also take the province into confidence on how he plans to alleviate crime.

The budget vote comes at a time when the province is battling with a high crime rate including murder, hijacking and robbery.
