CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Premier Alan Winde has called on the government and the private sector to work together to end load shedding.
Winde said the Western Cape Energy Council met with Electricity and Energy Minister Kgosientsho Ramakgopha last week to discuss the country's energy crisis.
The country has been free of rolling power cuts for exactly 138 days.
Winde said the country is not out of the woods yet and guided against complacency.
He adds that the province is still on course to add 5,700 megawatts of its own energy by 2035 to prevent future load shedding.
"It was interesting to also see the energy availability factor of Eskom, which has an 8% increase year-on-year and is now at 63.3%. We all welcome that, we welcome no load shedding now for more than 120 days."
