JOHANNESBURG - When it comes to their persistent and unwavering labour, Tyla and DJ Zinhle are considered powerhouses.

The third Basadi in Music Awards (BIMAs), which took place this weekend at the Johannesburg Theatre in Johannesburg, saw Tyla and Ntombezinhle Jiyane, who is better known as DJ Zinhle, emerge as the biggest winners.

Both artists won three awards - Tyla for her smash song Water, Song of the Year and Song with the Highest Airplay for her hit song Water and the International Achievement Award while DJ Zinhle took home the awards for DJ of the Year, Collaboration of the Year, and the coveted Trailblazer title.

The awards honour female artists and their accomplishments in the music business, including DJs, singers, rappers, composers, producers, and other creatives.

DJ Zinhle, a renowned businesswoman with considerable influence, has become a formidable presence, seemingly succeeding in whatever she sets her mind to.

Using social media, DJ Zinhle expressed her thankfulness, writing: "I can't process these feelings...🥹🙏🏾 I'm so grateful."

Last week, Tyla announced on social media that she was a nominee for Best R&B, Best Afrobeats, and Best New Artist, for her chart-topper, Water for the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs). This achievement highlights Tyla's growing influence in the global music scene.

Tyla, who is only 22, received the Best African Music Performance Grammy at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, making her the youngest-ever South African Grammy winner.
