The discovery comes against the backdrop of a police operation that uncovered an illegal military camp in White River, Mpumalanga.

Spokesperson Kamo Gelo Mogotsi said the Limpopo operation was prompted by a tip-off.

"While the exact purpose of the training at this facility remains under investigation, the discovery of military-related training equipment and activities raises serious concerns that cannot be ignored.

“The Minister of Police emphasised that the safety and security of South African citizens are of the utmost importance and further assured the public that the investigations into this matter will continue with the full support of all relevant law enforcement agencies.”
