JOHANNESBURG - Police Minister, Senzo Mchunu has commended the Hawks for their crackdown on an alleged firearm training facility located on a farm in Modimolle.
Last week, a multi-disciplinary team comprising the Hawks, State Security, Public Order Police, and the Tactical Response Team carried out a raid on the farm subsequently seizing several licensed rifles, a pistol, and an undisclosed amount of ammunition.
The operation was prompted by a tip-off received by the Hawks, which led the officers to pounce on the scene believed to have been used in the training activities at the facility.
"The swift and coordinated response by these specialised units showcases the commitment and diligence of our law enforcement agencies in protecting our communities from potential threats. While no arrests have been made at this time, the authorities are leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of justice" said spokesperson for the Minister, Kamogelo Mogotsi.
