Sara-Jayne Makwala King is joined by newly-crowned Miss South Africa, Mia Le Roux for her first radio interview since her win at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria on Saturday.

28-year-old Mia Le Roux is the new Miss South Africa 2024.
She gave her first post-win radio interview to CapeTalk on Sunday morning.
Le Roux was crowned on Saturday night at the Sun Bet Arena in Pretoria during a glitzy event.
Speaking to Weekend Breakfast host Sara-Jayne Makwala King the 28-year-old spoke of the significance of her win.

Le Roux, who was diagnosed with profound hearing loss at the age of one, has made history by being the first hearing-impaired winner in the competition's 66-year history.
"I'm here for anyone who has felt excluded. I want to give them a voice."

She admits that she was quite nervous about the telephone interview, because she usually lipreads.
"I don't always hear everything so well over the phone...But we have amazing technology that can send the sound directly towards my hearing aid."

Le Roux who hails from Sasolburg in Free State but was raised in Oudshoorn in Western Cape says the first person she called after her win was her mum, Liesl.
"She has been there for me since day one."

And her message to South Africa?
"No matter who you are, I know sometimes you have felt different, sometimes you have felt like you don't belong. Do not give up on yourself. If there is a glimmer of hope, hold onto that."

Le Roux takes over the reins from Natasha Joubert.
She receives a R1 million cash prize and sponsorship package that includes a lavish apartment and the use of a Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé for the next 12 months.
