Maropene Ramokgopa to attend Rwandan President Paul Kagame's inauguration

JOHANNESBURG - Minister in the Presidency for Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Maropene Ramokgopa will attend the inauguration of Rwandan President Paul Kagame on Sunday.
Kagame secured a 99.18% victory in the country’s 15 July elections, with the electorate’s participation rate sitting at over 99%.
Maropene will attend the ceremony scheduled for Sunday in the country’s capital, Kigali, on behalf of President Cyril Ramaphosa, who previously emphasised the strengthened diplomatic relations between the two nations.
Spokesperson for the department Litha Mpondwana said, “The presence of South Africa at the inauguration of President Kagame is indicative of the continued and strengthened diplomatic relations between South Africa and Rwanda, which open possibilities of deepened socioeconomic ties between the two nations, particularly in fields such as trade. Additionally, South Africa and Rwanda not only play an important role in regional integration, but in boosting the African Agenda and South-South Cooperation.
