JOHANNESBURG - The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has threatened to escalate the fight for the occupation of the government flats in Alexandra, north of Johannesburg, following the death of Moshe Mphahlele.

It is understood he was trying to mediate a dispute between law enforcement agencies and homeless people who wanted to forcibly occupy the containers erected to provide shelter during the COVID-19 pandemic.
EFF leader Julius Malema delivered a tribute during Mphahlele’s funeral in Limpopo on Friday.
“There’s no way that those buildings are not going to be occupied. When they were doing those containers, they had a list. They knew who they were doing for containers for. Let them go and read the list. Let the rightful owners get into the containers.”
