CAPE TOWN - The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) has called for donations for hundreds of farm animals affected by the floods that hit Riverlands, near Malmesbury, after three agricultural dam walls collapsed this week.
Three Swartland communities - Dassenberg, Chatsworth, and Riverlands - have been affected after the retention dams collapsed, which caused heavy flooding.
The SPCA's spokesperson, Belinda Abraham, said inspectors are looking for displaced animals.

Abraham said hundreds of farm animals and horses are missing, while animal feed has also been washed away.
"Please consider a donation of either oat hay, fresh fruit or vegetables or any pet food, blankets or any animal care essentials, and drop off can be made at the Cape of Good Hope, Darling, and Swartland SPCAs as well as at the Riverlands Primary School, where there's a well-coordinated effort to distribute good to the community," she said.
