Thousands of students were stranded, some without food, and landlords hit hard due to late payments, along with high upkeep costs.
NSFAS administrator, Freeman Nomvala, gave an update on the state of the scheme in Pretoria on Tuesday.
"Some accommodators, when they’ve been paid late, sometimes their debit orders would bounce. The mission here is to make sure that we not only catch up but create a platform to engage with service providers."
