JOHANNESBURG - The Department of Home Affairs says it will soon announce the outcomes of its investigations into the nationality of Miss SA contestant, Chidimma Adetshina.

Adetshina has been at the eye of a social media storm, with many people questioning her nationality based on her Nigerian name.

According to her profile on Miss SA and several media interviews, Adetshina says she was born in Soweto to parents of Nigerian and Mozambican descent.

Home Affairs deputy minister, Njabulo Nzuza, said that the department did not comment on the nationality status of individual people unless there was a credible reason.

"Even this one now, we have received some requests and we are looking into the matter and the department will pronounce and make its findings known once everything has been done."
