However, his party wants him to remain in this seat until Christmas.
Hendricks says the mayor has done well in the past year and got an award from SALGA for the best run municipality in Gauteng, along with his team.
“Your listeners are coming in with their nonsense saying he is an incompetent mayor.”
- Ganief Hendricks, Al Jama-ah leader
He argues that the calls for Gwamanda's removal are all based on a conspiracy and claims those calling for his removal, specifically naming the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation, are ‘funded by Zionists.’
Hendricks claims these groups are against Al Jama-ah for the views they hold on Palestine, despite the fact that the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation has been vocal in its support for Palestine.
“The Ahmed Kathrada Foundation is the right wing of the ANC. They don’t support the position of Palestine. They are with OUTA.”
- Ganief Hendricks, Al Jama-ah leader
Hendricks also accuses the groups wanting to remove Gwamanda, including the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA), the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation, and the DA, of being part of a conspiracy to ‘put white people in power’.
According to Hendricks, the ANC is aware of the conspiracy but is not part of it.
