ANC must ensure GNU ‘serves as platform to advance working-class interests’ - Ramaphosa
The ANC said that though it is aware of the risks and potential threats associated with the GNU, forming the coalition was the ‘best tactical’ move considering the loss of its national majority.

JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) said it was fully aware of the risks and potential threats associated with the Government of National Unity (GNU).
However, it said forming the coalition was the "best tactical" move considering the loss of its national majority.

On Tuesday, the party wrapped up its six-day National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings at the Birchwood Hotel in Kempton Park.
ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa said the party shared the same worries with its alliance partner when it comes to the GNU.
"We agree with the SACP [South African Communist Party] that we must ensure our participation in the GNU must not undermine our core principles and goals but serves as a platform to defend and advance working-class interests."
