JOHANNESBURG - Five men linked to the storming of a Katlehong primary school by controversial Pastor Paseka "Mboro" Motsoeneng will appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning.
The suspects were arrested after a video of Motsoeneng threatening teachers and community members at the Matsediso Primary School with a machete went viral.
It’s understood that Mboro was there to forcibly remove his grandchildren from the school after his son was denied access.
On Tuesday, a group understood to be high school children set Motsoeneng’s Incredible Happenings church in Katlehong alight, completely damaging the tent and its contents.
The identities of the five people who will make a court appearance on Wednesday have not been established but the police’s Major-General Anna Phaahla said that they face several charges related to the incident.
"The charges that were opened are assault, intimidation and contravention of the Dangerous Weapons Act."
Meanwhile, members of Prophet Paseka "Mboro" Motsoeneng's church have come out in his defence, saying he prophesied the attack on his church.
"This for me is a resurrection, a beginning of new things, of great things since this journey started. It's a new birth of Incredible
Happenings. Doing this, thinking that they are spiting us and Mboro, they are not but they are taking us to higher places."
Members of the church say they will be at the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court on Wednesday in support of their leader.
