JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) said that all previous government policies would remain intact until there was a petition from its Government of National Unity (GNU) partners to change it.
The party will on Tuesday conclude its three-day national lekgotla at the Birchwood Hotel in Kempton Park.
It's the ANC's first lekgotla since the 2024 general elections, where the party lost its national majority for the first time ever.
On Monday, the party received presentations from its alliance partners – COSATU, the SACP and SANCO – who are unhappy over its partners in the GNU.
However, ANC acting national spokesperson, Zuko Godlimpi, said that the party had assured the alliance that it would not be railroaded into repealing any key legislation.
"The idea is that if someone wanted to repeal BEE, repeal minimum wage, then they would have to canvas sufficient consensus within the GNU for that change to happen, so without that, nothing changes. The same thing people ask: 'What is your stance on Palestine, geopolitics?' All existing policies remain intact."
