CAPE TOWN - One of the accused in the high-profile trial of alleged underworld gang boss, Nafiz Modack, on Tuesday cast doubt on his own version of events related to the charges he faces.
Modack and his 14 co-accused face 122 charges for various crimes, including the murder of top cop Charl Kinnear and the attempted murder of prominent lawyer, William Booth.
Zane Kilian is accused of tracking Kinnear and Booth on behalf of Modack right up until their respective murder and attempted murder in 2020.

Kilian is also charged with money laundering related to payments he made and received from Empire Investment Cars, a company Modack allegedly used to pay some of the accused to commit crimes.
On Tuesday, the defence attorney, Pieter Nel, told the court under instruction from Kilian that certain payments he received from the company were for loans from another accused on trial.
However, Hawks officer Edward du Plessis who is currently under cross-examination refuted this, saying Kilian made previous admissions that the payments were for tracking Kinnear and Booth.
The trial continues.
