Botha spoke eloquently as he presented his version of events of the day he is accused of attempting to rape a woman in the shower room at the Athlone Nursing College in June 2014.
He told the court he visited the Athlone Nursing College on the day to confront his girlfriend about having an affair with another female student.
It is the State's case that Botha punched, choked and kicked the complainant before loosening his pants in an attempt to rape her.
Botha on Friday denied assaulting or attempting to rape her, saying he tried to calm her down but ran away after she again began screaming loudly.
The matter will be in court on 28 August.
