Kfm Mornings speaks to Olympian gold-medalist swimmer Chad le Clos and his dad Bert ahead of his Olympic swim later this morning.
Will le Clos become a two-time gold medalist? It will be determined at 11:03 am as he kicks off in the Olympic pool, representing South Africa along with Matthew Sates.
The four-time Olympian participant suffered a career blow a few weeks ago sustaining an upper shoulder injury.
Le Clos says he had an MRI scan just 72 hours ago which showed that the tear in his shoulder was still there but he is ready to 'rock 'n roll.'
'I've swum with an injury before so we'll see what happens,' notes le Clos.
"It is what it is but we can't do much more damage than what was already done but I want to be here, I want to represent our country... let's rock 'n roll."
- Chad le Clos - Olympian
While in Paris, le Clos has been zipping around Paris on a scooter and of course, enjoying watching his fellow South Africans participate in the Olympics.
Le Clos says it's been 'amazing' to watch Peter Coetze and Tatjana Smith give it their all because 'we're competing in a crazy pool.'
Le Close says he is feeling 'good, ready, positive and focused' for his race later this morning which is going to be 'tough.'
"It's going to be tough but I'm happy to be here for the fourth time and I'm grateful to be here. It's a freakin' dream... I'm going to throw everything I have at it and if that's good enough to get to finals... that would be a gold medal for me right now so let's see what happens."
- Chad le Clos - Olympian
Le Clos' dad, Bert says he couldn't sleep last night in anticipation for his son's race.
"Your kids need you when they're down and out, not when things are going great... I can tell you now he is unbelievable and this Olympic gala is fantastic because the French have been shouting for everyone in that pool, they've been great..."
- Bert le Clos
Fingers crossed, Chad - we're rooting for you and Matthew!
