DURBAN - The KwaZulu-Natal government and police will convene a crime summit on Friday.
The forum seeks to tackle the high crime rate in the province.
For years now, KwaZulu-Natal has battled criminal elements, including the killing of traditional leaders and politicians.
The newly appointed government has assured that crime is foremost on its agenda.

On Tuesday, King Misuzulu kaZwelithini urged the government to take a strong stance against crime in the province, following sporadic deadly shootings.
While the Zulu monarch raised gun violence as a matter of urgency, many citizens are still victims of robberies, hijackings, rape and murder across the province.
KwaZulu-Natal also remains a hotspot for deadly shootings in the taxi industry.
The summit is expected to produce solutions to the province’s rife concerns.
