JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi said that the Democratic Alliance (DA) in the province would be betraying the Government of National Unity (GNU) if it voted against the passing of budgets.
This week, MECs have been tabling their respective departmental budgets before the Gauteng legislature.
The DA has already indicated it will be voting against all of them, claiming they represent failed policies of the previous administration.
However, Lesufi said these policies had been agreed to by the national DA structure.
“Because what I have just said here it comes from the national lekgotla that was attended by your leadership and out of that lekgotla all these resolutions were adopted unanimously. You come here and oppose what your national leadership has adopted at a national level, that’s the rubberdoll moment I was urging you to avoid.”
